Finding the Right Photographer in Turlock, CA
Here are three great tips to keep in mind when you're looking for a great photographer in Turlock, CA.
Each and every photographer, just like any other artist, will have a unique style. It's important to ask the right questions before the shoot to vet your photographer!
How proficient is your photographer?
The most important point to note is that good equipment doesn't necessarily mean good photos! Great equipment is certainly important - but I'd rather have my photos taken by a photographer with amazing skills & lesser equipment than a photographer with no artistic ability who happens to have expensive equipment. When I shoot engagement pictures, graduation portraits, head shots, family portraits, newborn pictures, and any other photoshoot in the Turlock, CA, Oakdale, CA, or Modesto, CA areas, I always bring my best digital equipment (& backup!) - but the most important thing I bring with me is my talent. I've been practicing the art of photography for many years!
Is your photographer good at dealing with people?
Many times, people forget to ask the questions that maybe don't jump out as obvious. Of course you'll look at the previous work of your photographer, but did you know the photographer's personality is a critical element of a photoshoot? Be sure to talk to the artist on the phone, and don't just rely on email communication. It's important to feel comfortable during your shoot, and you'll be relying on your photographer to help you become your "best" you during your shoot. When you're browsing photographers in the Turlock, CA, Oakdale, CA, or Modesto, CA areas, be sure to confirm that your chosen one makes you feel warm and comfortable!
Bold: Does your photographer have a website?
I find it unsettlingly odd when I get handed a busines card of a fellow photographer that doesn't have a website! A good photographer will ALWAYS want to show off their work to the public to attract more customers. Building a website that is easy to use, aesthetically pleasing, and full of great photos isn't always easy - but a good photographer will invest the time & resources into making sure their website highlights their work well. Malibu Bluffs
“Ibiiiiii”
That’s something I say on a daily basis to my roommate when she comes into our dorm. I’m pretty sure I said the same thing when I was taking these photos of her. I had never been to Malibu Bluffs Park before but it’s situated right in front of Pepperdine, so we gave it a try. We were both feeling too lazy to go any farther down the trail, so we took almost all of these photos within about a 10ft radius.
I always have the best time running around with Ibi and I hope that is reflected in these! Enjoy :)

Ashlyn | Malibu
This is an example of the modern-day story of an Instagram friend turning into a real-life friend. Ashlyn and I are from the same town in Northern California, but we both live in LA now! We decided to meet up in Malibu for a portrait session because…well… I have an obsession with Malibu Creek State Park. The endless hills of dry grass and majestic mountains at golden hour are flawless. This session created some of my favorite photos to date. I was freaking out on the inside while taking them, but I did my best to control myself. I think I managed to keep my cool, to a degree.
I had such an amazing time during this session and honestly just laughed and experimented. I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I do! Cheers to new friends and Malibu sunsets :)

Sam and Ryan | Malibu Proposal
Last week, Ryan reached out to me on Instagram telling me all about his surprise proposal plans for Sam! They were only going to be in Malibu for one day, and I had class into the afternoon but I knew that I could make it work. After Ryan told me all about Sam and their relationship, I was invested and excited for them.
Friday came along and I decided to get to Point Dume almost an hour and a half early because getting one of the 10 parking spots, is difficult. I waited up at the top, anxiously awaiting for them to come up and even almost mistaking a different couple for them.
The session ended up going amazingly! Before he got on one knee, I was pretending to take photos of a random guy that was standing nearby. Finally, when he was about to pop the question, I raced over to get ~the shot~
Congrats again to Sam and Ryan!
